Emirates SkyCargo plays a pivotal role in boosting Morocco’s Economy.. Over 48,000 Tonnes Traded Since 2019

Emirates SkyCargo, the cargo arm of the world’s largest international airline, has been instrumental in facilitating the growth of Morocco’s international trade for over 22 years, by connecting local businesses with international customers and opportunities. As a leading partner in the world’s rapidly evolving supply chains, the airline is contributing to Morocco’s economic advancement and integration in the global market.

Between June 2019 and May 2024, Emirates SkyCargo exported 25,890 tonnes of goods from Morocco to key destinations, such as UAE, Hong Kong, Singapore, Switzerland, Germany and Kuwait.
Under Morocco’s Green Plan, the agriculture sector is positioned as a core driver of economic growth. Representing 45% of the total workforce, and contributing up to 17% of GDP, Morocco has made significant investment in infrastructure and production, to increase the value of exports on the international market. As a facilitator for global trade, Emirates SkyCargo aims to support this goal, providing the Moroccan agricultural community with industry-leading fit-for-purpose transportation solutions to enable to international export of fresh produce. As of 2024, over 70% of the cargo uplifted from Casablanca on Emirates SkyCargo is perishable goods, predominately seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables. In addition to perishable food goods, Emirates SkyCargo also exported over 55 tonnes of live palm plants from Morocco, between January 2019 and January 2024, using similar temperature-controlled infrastructure.
Emirates SkyCargo has invested in perishable goods-oriented services, which are particularly crucial for Moroccan exporters. Customers can choose from three different levels of temperature protection tailored to the products they wish to transport. Thanks to this service, fresh produce can be delivered in a temperature-controlled environment with rapid transit from farm to shop in just 24 to 48 hours. This capability is especially valuable for Morocco’s agricultural sector, known for its high-quality produce.
Other exports on Emirates SkyCargo include electrical and electronic equipment and products produced at STMicroelectronics plant in Morocco, Silver anodes, textiles and leather products.
Emirates SkyCargo operations have also played a crucial role in promoting Morocco’s rich cultural heritage, transporting 322 tonnes of handmade arts and crafts, including a significant amount of renowned Moroccan ceramics, textiles, and leather goods. This initiative not only supports local artisans and their time-honoured traditions but also introduces Moroccan craftsmanship to global markets. By enabling the export of these unique cultural products, Emirates SkyCargo is fostering international appreciation for Morocco’s artistic legacy, contributing to cultural exchange, and boosting the country’s artistic economy. These exports showcase the intricate skills passed down through generations, from the vibrant geometric patterns of Fez ceramics to the fine embroidery of Rabat and the supple leatherwork of Marrakech, allowing the world to experience the depth and diversity of Moroccan artistry.
Emirates SkyCargo also ensures the needed goods are imported to Morocco, bringing in 22,750 tonnes of cargo between June 2019 and May 2024. The imports primarily originated from key global markets including Hong Kong, UAE, China, India, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam and Japan, and consisted of pharmaceuticals, mobile phones, urgent courier material, assorted general cargo and mail, highlighting the diverse range of products transported by air to meet Morocco’s needs.
Morocco’s success story is part of Emirates SkyCargo’s broader global impact. The cargo carrier’s commitment to facilitating international trade extends beyond Morocco, reaching markets worldwide and contributing to economic growth across continents. Emirates SkyCargo reaffirmed its position in global air logistics and trade, carrying 2.2 million tonnes of goods around the world in FY2023-24, up 18% from the previous year.
